Position: Field Service Technician
Location: Abilene TX
Status: Full-Time
Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 60lbs. Ability to climb a ladder and work on roofs. Ability to work in the infrastructure of a home, including attics and crawl spaces. Ability to work in all inclement weather conditions. Must be able to use tools to install equipment. Must be able to drive within the entire service area to perform installs and/or service calls.
Work Environment: Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to outdoor weather conditions. May work in high, precarious places.
Description:
The Field Service Technician is the face of the company and requires excellent customer service skills paired with technical ability. The position requires completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, and recovery of equipment. Work is performed on-site at customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing Internet equipment, as well as a technical portion of updating databases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Must be the "public face" of the company/customer liaison, communicating effectively with customers, and always exceeding their service expectations and building customer "best practices" for the company.
• Possess the basic knowledge of explaining services and offerings to customers.
• Respond to inquiries by phone, email, mail, and in person, providing the information required in a timely manner.
• Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.
• Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
• Install new customers with Internet service, which includes mounting equipment on roof or pole, running Cat5 cable from outside to the customer’s equipment inside, and completing a clean and professional installation.
• Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.
• Perform equipment upgrades for existing customers when new towers are installed or equipment upgraded.
• Assist in determining new repeater locations to be able to expand service to potential customers.
• Travel to all service areas and other duties as assigned.
• Possess the basic knowledge of internet and networking solutions for customers.
• Setup and follow SOPs as necessary and required.
• Meet KPIs as given.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Role
Education/Experience:
A high school diploma is required, field experience preferred and a background in wireless Internet is highly valued.
VOIP experience and/or Linux is a plus.

• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must demonstrate the ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with a diverse employee & customer population.
• Ability to work independently, using sound judgment principles.

• Must have valid driver's license, good driving record, and be reasonably insurable by the company.
